All of a sudden, I realized yesterday it really is fall. As I drove through town, I saw fresh pops of bright colors in the trees, leaves scattered across the ground and a nice, cool breeze that kept the treetops swaying. I couldn’t help but feel excited for apple picking (and eating!), baking treats, bringing out my winter hats and cozying up to some hot chocolate. I think I’m ready for it.
This fall, I’m trying to grow in being present in the here and now. I’m asking God to open up my eyes to see where I’m really needed and to be all in while I’m there. Whether that’s cooking and eating dinner with my husband, leading a Bible study for students, meeting with gals one on one, running to discipline my body, trying to quiet my mind when it’s time for bed, or talking on the phone without half-listening. As a woman who loves to-do lists and efficiency, sometimes the most simple tasks, like the ones listed above, are the most difficult. How do you slow down when your life is trudging forward on autopilot?
