Okay, I know I say this every single month… but HOW is it October already?! It’s going to be Christmas before you know it. And that honestly makes me really excited, so I’m okay with it.
I do have to say, though, that for some reason, I’m really feeling October. I think this month is going to be a great month for enjoying routines and growing a lot. The first two weeks will be pretty crazy – we’ve got a friend coming into town for a quick trip, and then we are visiting my family & attending my 5 year high school reunion. This will be my first trip since we moved, so I’m excited to go back to my hometown! Jacob gets to travel periodically for work, so that stinker has been several places already ;). I’m going a little stir crazy.
So, here’s what I’d like to focus on this month:
+ make 2 new recipes.
I loved intentionally making this happen last month, because I’ve actually enjoyed cooking lately. This month I’d like to try making this (I’m a sucker for all things soup in the fall) and this (I’m also a sucker for slow Saturday mornings when good food is involved). And part of this goal is definitely trying to grow as a cook, both in skill and in passion.
+ call 3 friends who are far away.
I also loved this goal from last month, so this is definitely happening again. It’s so hard for me to remember to catch up with people I love who are out of my tunnel vision. I want to make this a priority – it’s so life giving and it reminds those ladies that I love ’em!
+ get into Scripture daily, before reading anything else.
In the name of busyness, opening my Bible often falls to the bottom of my to-do list. This month, as I’m working on maximizing my moments, I’m also working on prioritizing well.
+ go out of my way to love Jacob well.
He’s my person, so there’s no extra explanation necessary. 😉
And here’s how I did last month:
+ finish the Harry Potter series.
Well, I got through book 5 and decided to take a breather. I wanted to review a different book for Operation Read Your Shelves, so I’ll pick this back up next week :).
+ go on at least 2 date nights with Jacob.
+ reevaluate my commitments and ask God where I really need to be
I can say I did pretty dang good in this category. I’ve shifted my responsibilities around and, while I’m definitely busy, I feel good about where I’m spending my time.
+ call 3 friends who live far away
I also did this pretty well this month! Not only did I complete it, but I’m so glad I did this! I’m not very good at keeping up with long-distance friendships, and I really want to grow in it. These conversations are always so encouraging and rewarding.
+ finish half marathon training well
I finished well, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, I won’t be running the race on Sunday. I am, though, extremely proud of how far I’ve come! Never in my life have I dreamt I could run 9 miles and still be smiling after ;).
What are you working on this month? How can we encourage each other?!
