How I’m [honestly] preparing for baby #albrechtlittle

preparing for baby

By giving into every instinct I have:

  • Staying up too late reading? Check.
  • Waking up without an alarm as often as possible? Check.
  • Cleaning like a mad woman and getting rid of all possible clutter? Check.
  • Taking a bath every night? Check.
  • Watching The Bachelor and eating oreos by myself? Not even embarrassed to say CHECK.
  • Reading too many mom blogs? Of course.
  • Wondering why I can’t think of anything to write about on my own blog and worrying I’m turning into a mom blog…. Yes.
  • Not thinking about labor? AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, CHECK.
  • Wondering if I should pack my hospital bag? Definitely.
  • Putting off packing my hospital bag because I don’t know where to start or what type of PJs to buy, even though I’ve read about 100000 lists of “what you should pack in your hospital bag”? For sure.
  • Asking all my friends what they wore during labor because I have no idea what I’m doing? Check.
  • Eating way too much ice cream? Absolutely. Thanks to Hayward’s reopening.

What you wore during labor? That will big a big old NOTHING. πŸ™‚ Afterward, you’ll wear granny panties and they give you with pads that feel like diapers and glorious Tucks to help numb and soothe things. Opt for your favorite yoga pants, a nursing tank from Target, and your softest maternity tee shirt over top (along with a hoodie) to wear after your first shower. I found yoga pants held the big old panties and diapers in place more than nightgowns did.

    • THANKS BRITTANY!!! I’m working on gathering what I’ll want to wear afterwards and it’s so hard to know beforehand! I was banking on yoga pants and I just picked up one of those nursing tanks, so I’m glad that’s what worked best for you!!

  • “Wondering why I can’t think of anything to write about on my own blog and worrying I’m turning into a mom blog…. Yes.”

I’m not pregnant, but I totally think things like this already too for when we are. Sounds like you’re enjoying your time though and that sounds like the way it should be done! πŸ™‚

  • First off, let me just say I love your blog. I found you on Boost Your Blog’s pinterest pin and I’m so glad I did! I’m sending your blog to my friend who is preggers right now too because I’m pretty sure that she thinks these same thoughts. Lol! When are you due?

    • Stephanie, THANK YOU!!!! That just made my day! πŸ™‚ I’m due on April 8th – so just over a month away!!

  • Aww love this! Too funny. Love your honesty! πŸ™‚

  • You’ve got it 100% right! πŸ™‚

  • Don’t even worry a tiny bit about what to wear while you’re in labor. I think I wound up in some maternity leggings and a maternity tank because they were the only things that fit. And somehow I ended up going to the hospital with my childhood Mickey Mouse blanket wrapped around me because #fashion. Probably because labor made me a little delirious toward the end. Also I packed my hospital bag while I was in labor. What I’m saying is that it sounds like you’re on top of things so far. Keep doing what you’re doing πŸ˜‰

    • Haha!!!! Well leggings and a nursing tank are in my bag now so THAT’S GOOD!:) thanks for the encouragement!!

  • Sounds like you’re preparing exactly as you should! πŸ˜‰ Don’t stress too much about what you wear during labor. I was the same, and I picked out ‘labor outfits’ of maternity nighties etc. Then I ended up stripping down to nothing for most of it and not caring one iota because I was so hot and focused on what I was doing. In the moment, you will NOT care. And that is just how it should be! Afterwards you’ll want something soft and comfy, not too tight. I think I ended up in maternity pj pants and a comfy nursing tank. Your hormones will be all over the place so you might be ridiculously hot and sweaty for a while afterwards. Just bring something like a waterfall cardi or a light bathrobe in case you get cool at some point.

    • That is so good to know- thank you!! I have no idea what I’ll want to wear, but I figure comfy is a safe bet;). And I’m sure I’ll (obviously) strip down too because the baby has to come OUT ha!

    Hahaha I love this!!!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
