Thoughts On Maternity Clothes + Pink Blush Giveaway

Can I just say…. MATERNITY CLOTHES. Hall-e-lu-jah. My body is changing in some shocking ways for this first-time pregnant lady. The other day I was getting ready in the bathroom and could not get over how much just in the past week or two my body has changed! My belly is less “bumpy” and moreso just out, which means essentially none of my “pre-pregnancy” shirts fit anymore. If they still wrap around my body, they are juuuust short enough that it’s high time they get boxed away for next winter.

So needless to say, I’m grateful for maternity clothing that makes me feel cute even when I’m starting to feel big. And I’m grateful I live in this current day and age of trendy maternity clothes, not the day and age when my mom was pregnant… she describes her maternity clothes as “tents.” Ha! Sooo flattering and confidence-boosting. 😉

One of my favorite maternity clothing stores so far is PinkBlush Maternity – they have the cutest little maternity boutique that offers a wide variety of styles for every season! I picked this happy peach maternity top photographed above because I needed something to brighten my maternity closet – I’m a sucker for neutrals, so everything I have is so dark! This is one of my favorite tops to pull out on a yucky day when I need some brightness around me.

Where do you love to shop for maternity clothes?

Thanks to PinkBlush Maternity for providing the shirt photographed above AND for the opportunity to give YOU a little mid-winter shopping spree! There’s a $75 giftcard up for grabs (for either their maternity line OR their womens line, which I also love!!) You can enter here:

KitchenAid Stand Mixer GIVEAWAY!

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to get to baking! I’m hosting a baby shower this weekend, so I’m gearing up to bake and decorate 50 cupcakes for this weekend. If you caught my Instagram last night, you also saw I’ve been a crafting machine. Here’s to hoping it all comes together in time!

But there’s really something about the holidays that gets you in the mood to bake, right? I’m thinking buckeyes, white chocolate pop corn, apple pies… so to celebrate the start of the holiday season (and holiday baking!) I’ve teamed up with some of my favorite bloggers to bring you an amazing giveaway!

One lucky reader will win a KitchenAid Stand Mixer! I know we’ve all had one of these beauties on our wedding registry or Christmas list before, so I’m thrilled to give you the chance to win one.

Stitchfix Review & $75 Credit Giveaway!

StitchFix Review
I received my fourth Stitchfix box this week! There’s little that’s more exciting than seeing that little box full of goodies on my porch mid-afternoon. I have to say, my hopes were very high after last month’s fix. I felt like they got my overall style so right and it was fun to actually keep two of the items!

Unfortunately, I’m not as pleased with this fix. Let me break it down for you:

StitchFix Review

Item #1: Henry Birds on Branch Infinity Scarf : $28

I am a lover of scarves, but I don’t love this pattern. It’s a great, full shaped scarf and I liked the feel… but I’m sending this back.

StitchFix Review
Item #2: Adora Ankle Length Colored Skinny Jeans : $48

Well, these obviously aren’t ankle length on me ;). But, I am impressed with these pants! When I saw they sent me pants, I was skeptical – pant shopping for myself is hard enough! But I actually like these… plus, I don’t have any colored skinnies and I’d love a pair. So I’m thinking about these! Thoughts? (AND, these will only cost me $28 after the $20 styling fee!)

StitchFix Review
Item #3: Berneen Printed Dolman Sleeve Top : $58

I don’t like anything about this top: the pattern, colors, OR dolman sleeves. It’s also stretchy and ribbed at the sides like a maternity shirt… this is going back for sure.

StitchFix Review
Item #4: Raina Dark Denim Jacket : $88

To be honest, I just thought this was ugly. I have a denim jacket that I hardly ever wear, but it would take something really special to get me to wear a black denim jacket. This is going back.

StitchFix Review
Item #5: Charlie Raglan Seam Colorblock Sweater : $64

The description of this intrigued me, and I really thought I would like it! But once I put it on, I realized I was swimming in it. It’s huge, but not in a cute slouchy sweater way.. this was just bad. This is going back, too.

Happy Saturday, ladies!

The dirty truth about my kitchen (& a giveaway!)

I have never liked cooking. In fact, I’ve dreaded it, put it off and felt totally insecure about it for way too long. Baking, though…. baking is one of my favorite kitchen activities. I think that has been impacted by my unhealthy relationship with all things sweet, but still. I’ve enjoyed it since high school.

So for the first two years of our marriage, I tried really hard to be a great wife. I meal planned (with frustration), made tons of meals that were so-so, and even entertained guests for dinner! That last one was the real stressor – I never felt like what I made was up to par, especially compared to my friends who are great in the kitchen!

But over the past couple months, I have actually enjoyed cooking almost every meal! I could almost call it relaxing (gasp!). I’ve even had the nerve to try new recipes that turned out nicely and didn’t stress about having guests over. To be honest, I’m shocked.. still! Here’s the real topper, though, I also successfully made a few pasta sauces from scratch – something I’ve tried to master several times and failed miserably!! It’s the little things.

So today I’m extra excited to be partnering with the sweet ladies below to hook you up with two cookbooks and a copy of a recent favorite book, Notes from a Blue Bike by Tsh Oxenrieder. These two cookbooks have sent me deeper into the kitchen and have the most beautiful stories to accompany the show stopping recipes!

The winner will be announced this Friday so stay tuned and play fair! All entries will be verified. Have fun!!
